Mallorca: A place you should visit once in a lifetime

We spent a week in Mallorca. And because I like to write, you like to read, and it helps me with SEO, I’m here with another travel blog. We went to Mallorca in the usual way, last minute (read: for 5 for 12). What did we manage to see and why is it worth regularly leaving the hotel even on an all-inclusive trip?

The wait until the last minute was worth it
Following the example of the trip to Tunisia, we wanted to replicate this vacation and take it as low-cost as possible. So we waited until the last minute before booking the tour. And again, it was worth it. This time it didn’t cost us 6k per head, but 14k. Which in the season and moreover in Mallorca is not at all a bad price. In fact, it’s quite good, as it corresponds to the price of a first-minute package tour.

We arrived in Palma on Wednesday evening. We had our accommodation in Can Picafort, which is on the other side of the island, but you can cross it in an hour. So we were settled in around midnight. Since we booked through a travel agency again, everything including flights and airport transfer was taken care of. But if you don’t like to fly with a travel agency, you can find flights on Skyscanner for a good price. In the hotel, we of course had all-inclusive, so we even got something to eat at midnight.

Can Picafort – made for tourists
Although many people see it that way, it’s not at all necessary to spend time only in the hotel on an all-inclusive vacation. In Can Picafort there are beautiful beaches, where it’s crowded in season, but the clean water? You want it! A few times I even thought the water was cleaner than in the hotel pool. In addition to the clean water, be prepared for lots of fish, which are practically everywhere – and they’re not really afraid of people. If you’re lucky, you’ll also see crabs or turtles.

Can Picafort is one of the popular tourist resorts thanks to the pleasant bathing in the Alcúdia bay. The walk along the local promenade, which has recently undergone a renovation, is worth a mention here. The promenade offers plenty of places to rest and is lined with beaches, the more interesting of which are located to the north towards Port d’Alcúdia.

One day we went for a walk around the area, went to the local port and then walked along the beach until we reached the ‘better’ part of the town. This way you can get to the dog beach, where apart from dogs and locals, there is absolutely no one, which is exactly what you want in the season.

Thanks to the tourists, there are plenty of places to stop for food, coffee or a drink in Can Picafort. We visited several of them, but I only have one recommendation, and that’s the Mamma Mia pizzeria – absolutely perfect pizza.

Birthday boat trip
On Thursday, we were lying on the beach when a young girl named Jasmine came to us and offered us a boat trip. Given that it was my birthday, it was clear that we would go. The travel agency also offered us a similar cruise, but for twice the price and it was not designed just for the young. So this way, for 60 EUR per person, we had a 3-hour cruise through the caves, bays and beautiful beaches with all-inclusive drinks and 3 swimming stops. Wow, great!

On Sunday, we went to Alcúdia, which is a larger town just north of Can Picafort, where there are markets on Sundays and Tuesdays. For us, they weren’t anything special, but they are located in the old part of the city with lots of preserved walls and churches, which was beautiful.

And don’t forget that they grow olives in Mallorca, which are absolutely divine!
