CEO of GymBeam, a technology enthusiast, and a person who is careful about his digital footprint. Dalibor Cicman accepted the invitation to the Reels Talk by André show, where we discussed his perspective on modern technologies, company management, and the biggest business fuckup that pushed him further. Check out the summary of the most interesting points that came up in the interview.
Apple Vision Pro and the future of e-commerce
Dalibor loves technology, so it was clear that he couldn’t miss the chance to test the Apple Vision Pro. What does he see as the greatest benefit of this technology? Primarily, he sees it in monitors and 3D images, which will help especially fashion e-commerce. According to him, augmented reality can revolutionize shopping – instead of the time-consuming process of trying on clothes in a fitting room, we will soon be able to try on outfits in front of a virtual mirror.
When AI steals your face
In the past, Dalibor became a victim of deepfake technology. Someone created a video imitating his voice and tried to make a fraudulent call with one of his colleagues. “It was a shock,” he admits. Since then, he has looked at data security much more strictly and is thinking about how to protect himself in today’s digital era. And it’s not easy – you can no longer erase your digital footprint.
Life of a CEO: A calendar that decides everything
Every day, Dalibor wakes up at the same time, takes his daughter to kindergarten, and arrives at the office around 8 am. His first meeting is at 9, but before that, he goes through the key reports and prepares for the day. His work agenda is divided into status meetings with managers and strategic meetings for new projects. And if possible, he tries to devote at least 50% of his time to development projects instead of just putting out everyday fires.
And what if a hangover comes? “I haven’t had a hangover for years,” Dalibor laughs. He only drinks occasionally, a glass of white wine or the occasional whiskey. Clearly, no wild parties.
Dalibor’s biggest fuckup?
He made his biggest mistake in business about five years ago. The GymBeam company was profitable, but it had poor available cash flow. “It was extremely uncomfortable. Overdue invoices and explaining to suppliers that we would pay, we just miscalculated. That was a tough experience.” Since then, he has looked at financial management completely differently and monitors liquidity much more strictly.
Personal brand & cover of Forbes
Dalibor is building his personal brand – he speaks at conferences, comments on trends, and engages with the media. But it wasn’t always like that. For a long time, Forbes ignored him. Eventually, however, the path did lead to him. “We hired a branding specialist who set a goal to get me into Forbes. And I told him that I hadn’t been responding to them for a long time.” But in the end, Dalibor appeared on the cover of Forbes. And yes, this time he responded to them.
