I didn’t know for a long time whether I would even write this article. But the E-COMMERCE AKCE (E-commerce Events) are bursting at the seams and there are really a lot of events for e-commerce, so as I promised, I’m doing it. I’m no longer at every event, but I still hear about them. How is that possible? Take a look at the e-commerce events from the last 3 months that were (not) worth it.
Quantity vs. quality
Maybe it’s because I’m choosing more carefully where I go now. I’m starting to think more about whether it’s worth my time and whether it will bring me some benefit. And let’s face it, you do it too, that’s why we keep meeting. We have similar tastes because we consider the same events to be quality.
The season always starts around the end of August and beginning of September. At the end of August, Michal, Vítek and I had our regularly irregular sales mastermind, where we share experiences with the same target group and ways how things are going for us and where we might be leaking.
What shone in September
On September 5th, I even skipped the E-mail Date organized by Taste. Have I started to devote myself less to email marketing? But yeah!
Of course, I couldn’t miss Shopcamp on September 7th, especially the afterparty they did with Retino. Shopcamp is a smaller community event where familiar faces from e-commerce appear every year. That’s why I can’t miss it and I already know that I won’t miss it next year either! Do you know we already know the date? You can find it in my E-commerce Calendar.
On September 11th, Ecomail, as every year, organized an offline training for our clients. This time at Spojka Karlín and it was great!
September 12th was the day when CzechCrunch organized the Startup Awards and awarded the most interesting startups. By the way, I’m very glad that the popularity award went to Qerko, who send newsletters through Ecomail.cz thanks to me. Second place was deservedly taken by Úžasná místa v Česku and Testuj.to took the third place. By the way, do you remember the panel discussion at the pilot Meet&Deal event? Eva Čejková from Testuj.to was among the guests. In addition to the popularity awards, there were also awards for Young Startup 2023, Investment Hit of the Year 2023 and Startup Personality of the Year 2023. You can find the list of winners on the startupawards.cz website. My project IMBase with the largest database of CZ & SK influencers did not make it to the top spots. Not yet.
After more than a week’s break, I went to Social Restart from Taste, which was again in Dlabačov and had great lectures! What? Me at lectures? That’s right, I managed to attend most of them. Restarts are more about content than networking. So I knew what I was getting into.
The next day, I went to Spojka Karlín, where Socialmind held their Masterclass. An evening event with interesting speakers and interesting people who present themselves on social networks, especially on Instagram!
On September 28th, I couldn’t miss the E-commerce Connect event by Trustpay. This time it was again on the Sundeck boat and again a great SK & CZ team gathered, networking for several hours!
Meet&Deal was top. Look forward to vol2
Then came a necessary break, because I finalized Meet&Deal. My first event that I organized and had completely under my control. Almost 150 people from the ranks of influencers, e-commerce people, investors, entrepreneurs or specialists from various fields networked and “dealt” in Opera accompanied by top catering, a panel discussion on the topic of community building with great guests until the evening.
The feedback from the participants, including photos, can be found in the report here on the blog. Since we put “deal” in the name, you might be interested in whether any deals were made. I came back to that in the article about the presentation of the date and venue for vol2. Among those who closed the deal are freelance copywriter Daniel Klečka, brand strategist & architect Jakub Kantor or Michal Presse from Nifty Minds.
When and where will Meet&Deal vol2 be? You can find that on the official event website!
October joyride
Given that I wanted to switch off after Meet&Deal, I flew to Gdansk and missed the event from CC Jak prodávat na vlastní triko and also the very last E-commerce BEERs organized by the Sounds Good agency. By the way, Shopsys entered it as a 100% owner a few days before that.
On October 11th, I then went to Retail Club 2020 to stir up the waters a bit and move a bit from e-commerce to retail. Although we all know that in a certain case you should be both online and offline, there is a huge gap between strict retailers and pure e-commerce. Let’s fill it!
On October 12th, together with Heureka, Zásilkovna and Shoptet, we organized another Shopmasters at Ecomail. This time on the topic of data – a rather complex topic, but still a great event full of networking and masterminds, which are key for Shopmasters!
On October 24th, I did a classic “double-header”, starting at the Ecomail Meetup for agencies and then moving on to the Halloween party of the client, Alensa. Thanks for the invitation!
On October 26th, Petr Vojnar invited me to his WorkNet, that is, a workshop and networking. Petr’s workshop on communication skills was great and beneficial, even though I know a lot of that information and already do it. As for the networking part, it was quite lacking – putting a flyer there where the price of 200 CZK for a business breakfast is crossed out twice with a marker, increased to 250 and then 400 CZK, seems pretty crazy to me. Claiming that networking events cost between 400 CZK and 4,000 CZK is also similar information to saying that you can buy a car for 10k to 1 million. Nonsense, right?
November expansion to Slovakia
On November 1st, Lukáš Benzl invited me to AI finally practical, where Petra Stupková, among others, lectured. So I had to support it, right?
On November 3rd, we inaugurated the new Retino offices – the ones they took over from Skladon, and they’re really great! Awesome spaces and that terrace with the view?! Wow! Thanks for the invitation!
On November 7th, it was the Founders party – an event in the premises of the Prague Castle, the Martinický Palace – those premises are really beautiful. However, the event itself was not worth it in my opinion. Few people, I met a few familiar faces, but nothing special.
On November 23rd, I appeared in Slovakia again as part of my “expansion”. The E-commerce Meetup at GymBeam by Patrik and Marek was great! The first event in this lineup and right at one of the biggest players in SK e-commerce. GymBeam has warehouses and offices on almost 17,000 m2 and everything is really thought out in detail. Dalibor let us look under the hood of their business, how they think about it and most importantly, how it works for them. And the fact that they do everything themselves? It’s true and it works for them! Keep it up!
From the GymBeam warehouse, we moved on to Marketingový štvrtok, which GymBeam has been organizing for almost 5 years. The 27th event in their production, which is regularly attended by 200-250 people each month. Wow! A great event with interesting speakers and great networking in eastern Slovakia, in Košice. I think you’ll hear more from me about Marketingový Štvrtok.
On November 30th, the Creative Restart was held. That was again mostly about lectures from creatives from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Interested in more? You can look forward to a more detailed report.
